Run SMART Alexander Technique running lessons.
Alexander teachers don't just look at how to change your running form. We look at why your technique might cause injuries and impair performance and we address how to reduce unnecessary tension and improve coordination, breathing and body awareness to enhance the way you run.
Join me for 1-to-1 sessions, group classes and workshops where we will use tips, drills and video analysis to build strong, healthy and sustainable running technique that will allow you to fulfill your running goals.
The Alexander Technique is a practical way to reduce pain and discomfort, improve postural habits and fine-tune balance and
co-ordination, leaving you free to enjoy the things in life you love.
Used the world over by leading performers in the fields of music, sport, drama, singing and dance, the technique encourages greater freedom of movement and reduced tension through the whole body, improving performance levels and reducing the risk of joint pain, Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) and other musculoskeletal injuries.

A BIT ABOUT ME
ANDY SMITH: RUNNING COACH AND ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE TEACHER
I'll begin with a confession - I never used to enjoy running.
When I was younger I played every sport under the sun but would much rather hit, kick or throw a ball than go for a jog. But after having a serious back problem in my mid-20s which meant I had to give up sport, I found the Alexander Technique - and that changed everything. Not only did it have a big impact on my health by improving my body awareness and balance, it has also encouraged me to appreciate exactly what effort is needed to undertake any activity. This in turn has given me a true enjoyment in exploring free movement, something that brings significant benefits to my running, sport, daily life with my family and working with my clients. Over the years my job as an Alexander teacher has enabled me to work with a huge variety of people, from musicians and actors to sportspeople and those suffering from chronic pain, and seeing them achieve things that they didn't think they could do is something I never get tired of experiencing.
