Alexander teachers don't just look at how to change your running form. We look at why your technique might cause injuries and impair performance and we address how to improve coordination, breathing and body awareness, and also reduce unnecessary tension, to improve the way you run.

As a qualified 'Art of Running' instructor, certified by leading running coach and Alexander teacher Malcolm Balk, I teach the S.M.A.R.T method. This stands for:

 

Skilful – Running technique is not set in stone, there are many ways we can improve our form and many skills to refine.

Mindful – One of the most important factors in the 'Art of Running' is learning how to listen to our bodies as we run and stay present in our environment.

Athletic – Learn how to tap into your body's natural springiness to make your technique more effortless and less injury-prone.

Recreational – Above all else, running should be fun. Our greatest results are achieved when getting our trainers on is something to look forward to rather than a chore.

Transferable – You'll learn skills that help find freedom and lightness in the way you move, not just while running but also in every day life.

All of these aspects can be learned in one-to-one running sessions, workshops or small group classes.
